“A vacation is having nothing to do & all day to do it in.” – Robert Orben

Well  said Robert Orben, well said!

HELLO Everyone! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I know, I know, it has been a while!  I have to be honest after this term of school finished it was time for me to take a little break. I may have taken on a little more then I should have and I was TIRED!

But I am back and I wanted to share with you about VACATION!

First of all it was AMAZING! We had two weeks of HOT SUN!☀️🏝☀️

If you are from Canada, or somewhere that experiences harsh winters (❄️☃️❄️) you know how excited I was for the warm air and beautiful sunshine!

To kick off the Vacation, my amazing husband arranged it so I could tick an item off my 40 by 40 list –  he upgraded us to First Class!! ✅ I did know this in advance and was so excited, but didn’t want to spill the beans until I had pictures to prove it – although you can’t really tell other than the fact that we are drinking Mimosa’s that were handed to us as soon as we sat down.  I think it was at that moment that I turned to T and said,

We are so done now – I refuse to travel any other way!”

Mimosa? Yes PLEASE!  Best way to kick off Vaca!

Truthfully though, if you are flying on a Charter flight to a sunny destination, I do highly recommend you look into it.  We were taken care of the entire flight. We had a delicious breakfast and it is safe to say we were not thirsty when we arrived. Also if you have ever traveled on one of those Chartered flights you know how they pack everyone in like a can of sardines – you are practically sitting on the person next to you. With these seats there was so much leg room (I have long legs, so I notice this) and sooooo much room in general!

I am definitely happy I put that on the List, it may have to go on EVERY YEAR! Hahaha

So our vacation was in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We have been very fortunate that we have traveled every year we have been together – mostly to sunny destinations. Although we are discussing changing things up!

The resort where we stayed is particularly special to us because we were married here 4 years ago.  We had a beautiful view of the pool/ocean. The weather for the entire trip was hot and sunny, with only rain on our last day – and it was just scattered rain at that! The people  we have met from the Dominican Republic have all been so kind and we have over the years formed some fabulous friendships.  It was so nice to see them all again when we arrived.

Amazing view from our room!

One of the highlights from the trip (I think T and I had the same highlight) was getting to watch some NHL playoff hockey with a whole bar full of Canadians and Americans (I am sure there were other Countries represented as well, but they weren’t as loud as the Canadian and American fans).  It was the Toronto Maple Leafs (T’s favorite team) and the Boston Bruins – let me tell you the Sports Bar on the resort was LOUD and the place to be on those two nights! (Check out Instagram for the Video…I think!) Sadly, Toronto lost the 2nd game which ousted them from the playoffs but it was like being at a live game those two nights and something we won’t forget for a long time!

We met some fabulous people from across Canada, Europe and the States throughout our time in DR. That is one of my favorite things about travel – meeting people!  You never know what will come of those poolside chats, we ended up spending most of our week with a great couple from Newfoundland and Alberta.

We spent much of our vacation reading, relaxing, swimming, listening to music, throwing the ball around in the pool and playing cards. Highly recommend both of the books below – look for my review on Shaun T in the coming weeks.

We did manage to get out for a few beach walks – it is all about meeting goals right?! And vacation is still about achieving that Healthy Mind and Body.

Our Gym was the beautiful Bavaro beach!

We tried fancy restaurants and dressed for the occasion.  This trip was about spending  time together which was much needed after a busy school year and work year.

We kicked off the 40th Birthday Celebration (I plan to make this a year event clearly!) and celebrated our 4th Anniversary while there!

Now we are back home. Back to real life and getting into the swing of things. Summer is one of my favorite seasons because there is so much to do and see and longer days to make it all work! I am looking forward to checking more things off my list as we head into the final countdown to 40.

Eeeks,  it is almost 6 months away!!

If you have the time and have managed to read through this long post leave me a note to let me know your favorite Summer Activity and/or your favorite thing about vacation…maybe I will add it to the list or blog about it!
